Mind Sports International announces partnership with Multiplay

Plymouth, United Kingdom (7 April, 2014) - Mind Sports International is delighted to announce a formal partnership with Multiplay, creating the opportunity to add eSports to the Mind Sports Academy competition roster.

Mind Sports International works globally to build the very best mind sports events and experiences both online and at live events. Mind Sports Academy members are able to play in local, national and international competitions in Chess, Scrabble, Magic:The Gathering and now through the new partnership with Multiplay, the popular titles Hearthstone® and Starcraft II®.

32 online tournaments and live event competitions around the UK have been created with tournament champions winning seats at the MSI World Championships to be held at London’s ExCel Arena in November.

The first Mind Sports Academy Live event that will feature Blizzard titles Hearthstone® and Starcraft II® will be in Bristol on May 10th & 11th at The Bristol Pavilion. With experienced eSports tournament organisers Multiplay on hand to provide a high-quality gaming experience, Bristol will be the first stop in a tour incorporating both live and online events on the path towards the Mind Sports International World Championship’s in London later in the year.

Multiplay works with a wide range of people in the eSports industry, from high-level developers to the consumers who purchase their products, to deliver online services and events across the globe. With one of the biggest online gaming networks in the world with over 25,000 servers in 24 locations, Multiplay attracts hundreds of thousands of gamers a night across more than 60 game titles.

Simultaneously, the Multiplay business has an equally strong events management side: Over 20,000 gamers a year attending their gaming events, including the Insomnia Gaming Festival; the biggest gaming event in the UK. On top of their own events, Multiplay run third party events in a variety of arenas and disciplines, helping to extend their attention to detail and ability to get the job done for their clients.

CEO of Mind Sports International, Dave Brannan stated that the deal between the two companies was a ‘natural fit’. ‘Multiplay knows what gaming means to those who love it. With 20 years of experience we couldn’t have chosen to partner with a better provider in the industry’.

Multiplay’s Stuart Jones added ‘ Community is the lifeblood of our culture at Multiplay and that community culture is shared by our partners at Mind Sports International. Their Mind Sports Academy is bringing communities together online and at events and we are delighted to now be part of that process’.
