group of companies is delighted to announce the launch of MSI Academy Live!, and is celebrating the launch by hosting three free to attend 'welcome events' the first of which will be held at the Jury's Inn, Newcastle on Saturday November 16th and Sunday November 17th from 9am - 6pm.
Newcastle's MSI Academy Live! 'welcome event' will give the public an opportunity to experience the fun and benefits associated with playing mind sports and includes Scrabble, Chess and Magic: The Gathering with the opportunity to win prizes for participating as well as up to £400 per game in the competitive taster tournaments.
Free to enter competitive taster events are being held on the Saturday, with the more serious tournaments commencing on the Sunday (small entry fee applies). There is no charge on either day to spectate and sample the games.
The MSI Academy Live! programme represents both the fun and the competitive arm of the MSI Academy. It gives players of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get involved with different mind sports and compete in tournaments for the opportunity to win a fantastic array of prizes.
Starting from January 2014 monthly events will be held across the Country where intellectual sports enthusiasts and newcomers to the games will be able to learn, train and compete at as many events as they wish.
The idea for the Mind Sports (International) Academy came about thanks to the growing global demand for more organised mind sports events and integration programmes with clubs and schools. The development of the low-cost membership programme gives players and clubs the opportunity to become a part of what will become a worldwide network that participates in structured events and general community engagement.
CEO of Mind Sports (International), Dave Brannan feels there are plenty of people yet to find the pleasure that comes from playing Mind Sports, "We're trying to promote all of the benefits individuals can experience from playing these fantastic intellectual games."
Brannan continues, "Playing mind sports from a young age not only helps with cognitive development but also helps build social interaction skills, as well as planning and thinking ahead."
The first of its kind, the MSI Academy offers individuals and groups an array of learning and training opportunities, as well as the opportunity to take part and compete in tournaments hosted across the country for a yearly membership fee.

From January 2014, the Academy will begin its MSI Academy Live! annual programme. A monthly tournament series that takes place in cities including: Exeter, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool, Peterborough, Plymouth, Newcastle, London, Swindon and Manchester.
Over the course of the year the MSI Academy Live! events will distribute over £40,000 in cash and prizes.
